The Den Tran temple complex is a popular heritage site in Tuc Mac Hamlet, Loc Vuong Commune, about 100 kilometers from Hanoi in Nam Dinh province.
In the front of the gate is a lake
The middle Thien Truong Temple is dedicated to the worship of 14 kings of Tran Dynasty who ruled during the 14th and 15th centuries.
Beside it is Co Thach Temple which is dedicated to Tran Hung Dao, a hero of the Tran Dynasty who commanded the Dai Viet armies that repelled two major Mongol invasions in the 13th century. The temple was built in Nguyen Dynasty in the 18th-19th century.
A third temple in the complex, Trung Hoa Temple was built in 2000 to worship kings of Tran Dynasty.
The annual Tran Temple Festival is held from Lunar August 15-20. The incense-offering rite involves 14 virgins carrying 14 trays of flowers into the temple and placing them on thrones in the tradition of former feudal courts.
Here are some photos of Den Tran taken by The Saigon Times Daily’s journalist Tran Minh.
